Instructor: Lloyd Meek Class: Unleash Your Inner Cartoonist Thursdays/January 15th - February 12th /5:00 - 6:30pm/ Grade 3rd - 5th/$240 Bring your characters to life! Unleash your inner cartoonist in this fun and dynamic 5-week workshop! We'll explore the exciting world of cartooning by focusing on two powerful tools: facial expressions and body gestures. Ever wonder how superheroes look so strong, or how a funny character shows they're surprised just by how they stand? You'll learn how to make your characters happy, sad, silly, or even super-powered just by changing their faces and the way they hold their bodies. Get ready to draw cool action poses, dramatic stances, and everyday character movements that tell a whole story without saying a single word! Imagine, create, and bring your unique characters to life on paper! Supplies needed: Pencils (HB, 2B), Erasers, Sketchbooks (9x12 or larger recommended) and a Ruler Lloyd W. Meek, a seasoned graphic designer and illustrator has a rich background in commercial illustration, including work with independent comic book companies. Leveraging his long history and love for drawing, he's been instrumental in teaching numerous cartooning classes, guiding aspiring artists of all ages in the Chelmsford/Westford (Including a past residence at the Roudenbush Community Center) area to find their inner cartoonist.
Policy & Procedures
WITHDRAWAL & CANCELLATION POLICY: Our programs are supported entirely by participant fees; therefore, full refunds are not provided. If a participant withdraws at least 7 days prior to the program start date, a refund less a 25% processing fee will be issued. Withdrawals made fewer than 7 days before the start date are non-refundable. No refunds are issued for events. Cancellations made at least 7 days prior to the start of a program will receive a 75% refund; no other refunds will be granted. If Roudenbush cancels a class, participants will be notified and issued a full refund or voucher. RELEASE OF LIABILITY FOR MINOR: I/We, as the parent or legal guardian of a registered minor, consent to the child’s participation in The Roudenbush Community Center, Inc. (TRCCI) programs and use of TRCCI facilities and equipment. I/We agree to release and hold harmless TRCCI, its employees, agents, and assigns from any liability arising from participation in these programs. I/We further consent to emergency medical treatment in the event of injury or illness during program participation and accept financial responsibility for such treatment. PHOTOGRAPHY PERMISSION: I/We consent to the taking of photographs and videos of my/our child for use in the promotion of TRCCI programs. BEHAVIOR POLICY: Children are expected to treat instructors, staff, peers, and the facility respectfully; use kind words; keep hands and feet to themselves; follow instructions; participate safely; remain in designated program areas; and use materials appropriately. Instructors address behavior concerns using a supportive, step-by-step approach that may include reminders, redirection, brief cool-down periods, parent or guardian communication, early pickup, or removal from future classes if behavior repeatedly impacts safety or learning. Refunds for removed participants will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. A child may be removed immediately if behavior poses a danger to themselves, other participants, or staff. In these cases, the child will be brought to the Community Center’s main office and parents or guardians will be contacted for prompt pickup. Families play an important role by reviewing expectations with their child, sharing relevant information or accommodation needs, and remaining reachable during class times. Roudenbush welcomes children of all abilities and backgrounds and strives to provide reasonable accommodations to ensure a safe, fun & enriching experience for everyone.
