Service Description

Instructor: Sue Hurwitz Class: Paints & Pastels Date: Mondays April 29th - May 20th Time: 5:00 - 6:00pm Age: K to 8th grade Price: $130 This class will explore creating art with acrylic paints and pastels. Week 1-Robots and Friendly Monsters-Using geometric shapes students will use their imaginations to draw and then paint robots with the use of bold colors such as orange and turquoise. Next, students will use those colors to draw and then paint (friendly) monsters. This class will be an introduction to using standard geometric forms as the foundation to build upon our subject matter Week 2-Students will start with drawing upside down, melting ice cream cones. They’ll finish the painting with a blue, textured background using paintbrushes to add texture. This class will give students a chance to work from their memories and imaginations, to depict something that is a common experience-a dropped and melting ice cream! Week 3-‘Ribbit!’- Starting a drawing with a picture as a model, students will fill playful, cartoon-style frogs with shades of green pastels. This class shows students a variety of shades of a single color to draw from. Pastels are also a great tool to learn the blending of colors. Week 4-Planets-The last subject for this series will be looking at photographs of various planets and creating colorful images of planets in space. Learning how to choose colors and blend them for a realistic depiction of the subject is the idea for this class. Sue Hurwitz is an artist who has taught classes at Art Happens, The Wild Salamander, and The Roudenbush Community Center. She does art projects at The Camp of World Cultures at the Nashua Community Music School in the summer and has been the art director for the camp.

Policy & Procedures

WITHDRAWAL POLICY: Our programs are supported totally by fees; therefore, full refunds are not given for withdrawals. In the event you would like to withdraw, you will receive a refund as follows: · If a participant withdraws from a program at least seven days prior to the start date a refund of the cost less 25% processing fee will be given. · If a participant withdraws from a program less than seven days prior to the start date, no refund will be issued. · No refunds are given for trips or special events. Cancellation Policy - I/We accept the following The Roudenbush Community Center, Inc. (TRCCI) Cancellation and Transfer Policy: A voucher less $10 will be issued for cancellations 7 days prior to start of program; no other refunds will be granted; no refunds will be issued for trips or special events; there will be a $10 fee to transfer from one class to another; vouchers expire one year from date of issue; if Roudenbush cancels a class, we will call participants and issue a full voucher or refund. Release of Liability for Minor - I/We, as parents/guardians of registered minor, hereby consent to his/her participation in the TRCCI Programs and to his/her use of the TRCCI facilities and equipment. I/We further agree to release and hold harmless TRCCI and their employees, agents and assigns from any and all liability or expenses arising out of any incident involving, or any account of any injury to the above named minor in connection with such program. I/We further consent to emergency treatment by a physician in the event of injury to, or illness of our child during his/her participation in this program. I/We accept full responsibility for all costs for any such emergency treatment. Photography Permission - I/We, as parents/guardians of registered minor, hereby consent to the taking of videos and photographs of my/our child which may be used in the promotion of the TRCCI Programs.
