Math Myths for the Modern Child Volumes 1 and 10 are interdisciplinary short story collections that are fun and entertaining. Read about tech wizardry, a programmable AI robot dog, remote-control rescue cats, dust bunnies, animal crackers, and fairies. If you love math, you’ll enjoy reading these stories. If you hate math, these stories might make you like it a little more. At the very least, you’ll see how math is in the world around us. Book clubs are fun! After this book club, you might even think that math is fun. April 2 and 9th we will discuss Volume 10 April 23 and 30 we will discuss Volume 1 Included in the cost of the course is the appropriate copy of Math Myths for the Modern Child. Please pick up your book at Roudenbush a week before the class meets so you can read the stories up for discussion. Donna is a teacher of technology, yoga and mindfulness, and the author of several books for middle-grade readers that incorporate little bits of math into the story. Not word problems and certainly not math homework, the stories are meant to be entertaining and to illustrate how math is in the world all around us. She hopes that finding math as a part of the puzzle in a plot will hope kids find enjoyment in one of her favorite subjects.
