American Girl Fashion Show – April 9 & 10
The sixth annual American Girl Fashion Show will be held on Friday and Saturday, April 9 & 10, 2010. This year the shows will be held at the beautiful, new banquet facility at the Chelmsford Elks. There will be a Friday evening show at 6 p.m. as well as three shows on Saturday, 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. The evening shows will include an ice cream social; guests will make their own sundaes while enjoying the fashion show. At the Friday evening show only, there will be a hair salon for American Girl Dolls only beginning at 4:00pm. Call the main office to make an appointment for your doll, or sign up on line. Shows will feature historically inspired clothing and matching dolls from the American Girl clothing collection, American Girl of Today, and the Bitty Baby collections. Drawings will also be held at each show as well as an opportunity to purchase doll accessories or have your picture taken with the American Girl models. We still have spots available for American Girl Fashion Show Guest Models – Guest models will walk the runway at a specific time during the Fashion Show. Girls can wear either their own original American Girl outfit, or the American Girl Tee Shirt given to them at the show. Bring your dolls and walk the runway – sign up soon online!

Frost Registration begins on March 31 – Starting at 7 a.m., it’s first come, first served for the Roudenbush Children’s Center at Frost. Frost serves children ages 6 weeks through kindergarten. Registration forms can be downloaded at www.roudenbush.org and should be fully completed prior to bringing them to Frost.

Ninth Annual Taste of Nashoba Valley – The Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce presents the Ninth Annual Taste of Nashoba Valley on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Lawrence Academy in Groton. Tickets are now on sale at the Roudenbush Community Center for $20 in advance. Tickets at the door will be $25; join us for a wonderful culinary experience.

ABC Mommy and Me! – Starts Friday, Mar. 26, 10:15-11:15 a.m. – Ages 2-4 with parent, this playtime session includes songs, dances, games, dress up, sensory play and crafts in a relaxed setting. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents and caregivers to meet and interact in a fun environment.

Movement and Motion (Age 3-4) – This program is designed to develop a child’s natural movement and encourage creativity in the very young dancer. Students will learn beginning ballet techniques using props, music and imagination. Held at TA-DAH! Studio of Dance, Mondays, 9:30 a.m. beginning March 22.

Beginning Ballet (Ages 4-5) – Classes are designed to introduce the young dancer to beginning ballet steps and terminology. Students will learn to use ballet movements to express feelings and ideas. Starts Monday, March 22, 10:15 a.m. at TA-DAH! Studio of Dance.

Ring Around the Roudenbush for children ages 18 months through 2.9 year olds
This special program is designed for children 18 mos. through 2.9 years. A great time for mom to shop, or get her hair & nails done while her child is in a safe, secure environment socializing with others! We will do arts and crafts, games, songs and finger plays; bring your own snack and we will sit, eat and socialize together!

Toddler Gym Days Ages 18 mo. – 4 yrs with parent at Roudenbush
June 9-June 23 (3 Wed) 9:00 am - 9:45 am
June 10-June 24 (3 Thur) 9:00 am - 9:45 am
We will be holding a series of 3 week mini toddler gym sessions (with parent) during the month of June; sign-up for one or all of them. Parents actively participate with their child as they guide them through simple exercises, obstacle courses, tumbling, climbing, jumping and balancing activities to help them gain body awareness and coordination. Free play and parachute activities are also part of these classes.

Friday Night Junior Girl Scout Badge Workshop – Join us on Friday, March 19 to complete a Scout Merit Badge in a fun workshop. The theme this week will be “Women’s Stories”; the workshop is open to individuals or groups, $15.

Family Science Night, Friday March 19 - Join Roudenbush and the Staff from Top Secret Science for a fun evening! “Faster Than A Speeding Bullet” will dazzle you with weird lights and sounds, and everything you see or hear might not actually be real. We will look at optical illusions, colors, light and sounds. $12/child, parent is free 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Speak English Better! With instructor Conrad Hinckley. Are you new to the US? Is it difficult to tell people what you need or understand what they are saying? Join our class and we will work together to help you say what you mean and to understand what others are saying to you, and it will be fun! Starts Tuesday, March 30 at 7 p.m.

Roudenbush Adult Social Day Program – 65 Tadmuck Road, Westford, is now accepting new members to join “The Club”. Our program runs 5 days per week from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a minimum of 2 days per week required. Door-to-door transportation service is provided by a private van. A social day member may be an isolated or homebound elder from Westford or area communities. Our members may need some socialization or another supportive environment (we do not service those who need medical monitoring). Their families may need some supervision or assistance for their family member while they work outside the home. Our program can assist you or your loved one in staying at home as long as possible, but with support. Clay, Pottery Wheel, & Sculpture with Suzanne Donahue – Classes located at the Pottery Studio in Westford. Sign up on-line now for classes starting in March.

Creative Cake Decorating – Learn to professionally level and frost cakes, transfer designed, figure piping and basket weave. Flowers will bloom as you create roses, mums, lilies and poinsettias. Fondant techniques will also be incorporated into this class and your final creation will be a tiered wedding cake. $123/$120. Starts March 22.

Fencing – Fencing provides poise, self-assurance, physical agility and fun! Equipment will be provided if needed. Students must be 10 years or older. Join our ongoing beginning, intermediate or advanced Fencing classes.

Friday Night Chess Club - come and play chess with other kids and teens from the Nashoba/Merrimack Valley area who are interested in the game. Players will be grouped according to skill and age. Only $3.00 per session, ongoing Friday nights at 6:30.

Core Conditioning for the Athlete – Join our new instructor, Jeri Ryan, beginning on March 24 for 7 weeks. Class runs Wednesday evenings 7:15-8:15 p.m. Prevent injury and increase athletic performance by increasing core strength and muscle awareness. Utilizing contemporary Pilates methods and traditional core strengthening techniques, we will strengthen the stabilizing muscles of the core and learn how to move in all forms of activity more safely. This is an exercise class, be prepared to sweat and work hard; Bring a mat, towel & water, for all classes. Recommended for athletes of all ages - teens and adults welcome!

For more local trips, Join us in March for the Boston Flower and Garden Show which will include a narrated tour of Boston via motorcoach, and lunch at Joe Tecce’s Restaurant in the North End. April travels allow us to celebrate spring with daffodils at the Blithewold Mansion overlooking Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island. Lunch will be at White’s of Westport; register soon. Then in June we will take our coach bus to the Venus De Milo restaurant in Swansea, MA to enjoy Jay Siegel and The Tokens. This a great, crowd-pleasing show along with a wonderful luncheon at this popular restaurant.
