About the instructor Bllu Catalano:
I began tutoring, then teaching English and math at Bunker Hill Community College, and theater at Bridgewater State College. I received my Bachelors from Emerson in Mass communication, and went on to Massachusetts certification in adult education and an interior design certificate from New England Institute of Art. I studied drawing, painting, and sketching at Cape Cod Community College and Mass College of Art for 3 years. I then moved on to run an inter-related artists group for 4 years while at Emerson College. I've have been part of 2 respected artist communes, Braintree Street Arts Collective in Allston, and The Causeway Street Arts Group, where I collaborated and organized art shows. While I received a solid fine arts education, I've specialized in film, animation, theater and design in my professional life. I've shown my art at such places as the Bunker Hill Community College Gallery and had films screened at the Boston Public Library. For more than five years I was a magazine writer, designer and editor. I have helped produce local and travel magazines, such the Boston City Shopper and Boston Community Glue. I was employed by the Boston Public School Adult Education Department and Brookline High School Steps to Success programs for two years each as a community teacher, where I worked with teens and adults to improve family education and success. I've worked with many agencies in the Boston area for over a decade, such as the Hyde Square Task Force and Asian Task Force. I ran the adult education department at Equal Exchange for twelve years before moving to Westford last year. I presently teach elementary school level Lego classes with the STEAM organization Creation Station. I am a Museum Educator at the Tsongas National History Center, where I teach school groups about the Industrial Revolution. I've also managed Destination Imagination teams, which I love!
